The Barranco Oscuro Nature Reserve is located in the Doramas Rural Park. Barranco Oscuro was declared nature reserve due to the fact it consists of a particular vulnerable ecosystem: a laurel forest which shelters some 40 endemic species of plants and invertebrates. The reserve is also home to a pine forest (pinar, in Spanish).
