The Sand Dunes of Maspalomas stretch between Playa del Ingles and the city of Maspalomas. The spot was declared nature reserve in 1987, and it is famous throughout the world, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The reserve as such is a highly vulnerable biological and geological site, and the tourist boom might endanger it. However, the rules enforced in view of protecting the area, if efficient, should work as a shield against tourist influences.
